The Ebonfang

Weapon

The Ebonfang is a legendary sword forged from a material known as Celestium. Widely utilized in Celestium Valley, particularly within the village of Muak Bach, the sword’s original format and size vary based on both its intended purpose and the preferences of its owner.

The Muakishis hold the Ebonfang in high regard, considering it a significant part of their cultural heritage. The sword has become an integral aspect of their daily routines, serving as a symbol of both protection and freedom.

History

In the year 3878, Hessen, from the small kingdom of Thyatheer, embarked on a westward journey. Accompanied by loyal cats, he discovered a valley struck by a massive meteor long ago. Remnants of this celestial event were scattered throughout the region. The felines later identified the meteor’s material as “Celestium,” a rare metal unique to that region. Over two years, Hessen and wise cats dedicated themselves to studying Celestium, eventually conducting their first experiment with the melted material. The resulting forged material proved to be exceptionally strong and lightweight, making it an ideal choice for their sword blades.

Description

The blades of the original Ebonfang are crafted from pure Celestium. Once the Celestium is melted, it becomes amenable to being forged into a strong, unbreakable shape. The exclusive stone suitable for sharpening these blades post-forging is Monstonite. Once sharpened, the blades retain their sharpness indefinitely, remaining as pristine as new throughout their entire lifespan.

Celestium can only undergo the melting process once and is easily manipulable when heated above 650 degrees. However, once the material cools down, it can withstand temperatures up to 3000 degrees before risking explosion.

There are over 500 types of Ebonfangs in Muak Bach alone, but certain pieces of information remain consistent across all variations of the sword.

Parallels

The Ebonfang is symbolic of the Bible, with Celestium mirroring its divine origin as it descended from heaven like meteors. This parallels the way the Bible is believed to have come to humanity through divine revelation.

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
— Hebrews 4:12

Additionally, the sword serves as a symbol of masculinity and patriarchal values, embodying concepts of protection and self-defense.

Interestingly, the blades of the Ebonfang have a unique ability to react instantly to red wine, symbolizing false teachings and doctrines. This mirrors the way the pure teachings of the Bible have the power to expel apostasy and falsehood.
